Question Rear valance modification

Rather than just cutting a notch in the rear valance of my 79 SC for a dual outlet exhaust, I plan to have the body shop make a mirror copy of the driver's rear fender extention. Since the car is in pieces and I don't have the dual outlet exhaust yet, can anyone tell me if the outlets are in fact in similar placement on both sides?

Thanks,

Rich

Hi:
I did this mod myself !...
The PO modified the standard muffler, by adding a right side exhaust tip. Unfortunatlely, it wasn't positioned in *exactly* the mirror-image opposite side, but it would seem that most aftermarket units would place these symmetrically.
Anyway...regardless if it is exactly placed or not...you can first mount the muffler, and eye-ball where the cutout should be. I redid the work done by the PO ...to make it more clean and sanitary. I bought a new rear valence, and set out to cut the right side...inner edge ( closest to the center of the car) to mimic the left side.. but...mirror image as measured from the outside surface of the big bumper "pillows" on either side. Cut the hole as an inverted "u" ...make it purposely a bit small. Test fit. Then take off and use a flat nosed plier or vise-grip to *gently* roll a lip..a little at a time....like a fender lip. Test fit again and adjust via a new cut or more bending for the lip. Notice also that the left side of the car is different. The rocker panel ends in a slope toward the rear of the car..the right side has a squared-off edge. As you cut the hole, make the outer edge of the hole ( the one toward the outside of the car) look like a sloped extension of the right side rocker panel. This will make it look a lot more like the left side. When done...dress the "lip"
with a rubberized abrasive wheel ( Like a Dremel)...then have the valence painted.
I didn't post pics on my set up since it's not completely done..but I may do this. Looks great ( IMHO)..and a lot less like a hack job.
