How does this happen? Why?

Quick question. How and who keeps bashing this plate? I have seen this damage on countless 911s but I have yet to ding it myself. Any idea how this is happening?

The is usually a heavy grill plate under the front nose protected by a 1" thick, maybe 2' long tube.

Curb/driveway entrance rash?
