Rear end noise, '83 SC

Yea I know... take some Beano.

My '83 SC has a scraping noise coming from the rear wheels. Pulled the wheels off this evening. Brake pads need replacement & rotors spun, but it didn't look like I was to metal on metal yet.

Could it be the wheel bearings? How can I tell for sure? The car has 165,000 miles on it (joy, no documentation...).

Would it be a good idea to replace the wheel bearings while I'm at the brake job?

Thanks, Gordo

Gordo,
I know it's not a common sound for a CVJ to make but I had the same metal/metal grind sound and it turned out to be a bad driver side CVJ I replaced it and noise is GONE!! you may want to check the boot for any holes that allow crap to get into the CVJ...
