Hi,
I'm working on putting together a nice array of carbon fiber parts to offer you porsche aficionados. One of them will be the smuggler box cover. I picked up a smuggler's box cover from Ferrino (thanks again) since I didn't want to use the one on my 87 to create the mold. Before creating the mold, I checked the smuggler's box cover I received vs the one on my car... and low and behold, they're different! The one I bought (bottom one in the picture) is practically flat. The one from my 87 has a little dome for the AC condenser... so which one's correct? ![]() I did a little google search, and both seem correct! what gives?

Haven't you answered your own question? Correct depends on whether you need to clear some AC stuff or not, does it not?

Realgren,
Your CF work sounds interesting. In 1986 they changed the top of the evaporator box; related to its motor inside. Without looking at the Porsche PET or other part number list, maybe you can say the smugglers box top you have with the bubble on the top is for 1986-1989, and the top you have that is rather flat is for 1985 and older. If you want to make just one style top, maybe the one with the bubble will do just fine for all years. |

Kuel, you're right
85 to 89 have the bubble on the lid: 911.504.043.01 70 to 85 have the flatter lid: 901.504.043.02 The 85-89 fits the 70 to 85 box. On to create the molds!
