Line to Airbox
I was removing the air box on my 86 Carrera 3.2 in hopes of putting on a cone-shaped filter (mostly to see how it looked).
After removing the bolts and screws, I found a braided tube connected to the back of the air box. Currently, there is not a corresponding place to attach it on the cone filter. Does anybody know what this line does and what the results would be if it weren't connected?

That is your breather hose from your charcoal canister into your AFM.
To do this right, you need to tap a brass plumbing barbed fitment so the hose can connect to it. I would place it in the back of the neck of the Cone Adapter.

I did the reverse of you. I removed the PO's cone filter and reinstalled the OEM airbox. Until then, while the cone was installed, the hose was just left sitting there unattached, and the car ran fine. In the long run, it's probably safer to implement a filter connection described above.

Thanks. It does seem to work fine with it disconnected, but I will try to find a fitting to reconnect it to the new air intake
