Missing "connector locking plate"

My stock 86 3.2 is missing the locking plate that is to be removed that holds the CHT and 2 speed reference sensors on the left hand side of the engine compartment. How important is this locking plate?

Thanks!

Can't remember who said it (Smokey Yunick? Carroll Smith?) but it goes something like this: "If it's supposed to move, grease the hell out of it. If it's not, fasten it as tight as you can to keep it from moving."

So, it probably won't cause you any problems, but if it keeps one wire from chafing on one piece of metal, or keeps connector pins from working loose in their sockets, it's done it's job.

You can probably get one from the dismantlers like parts heaven...

Ordered one from Porsche part number 911-606-12701.........Looks like some body in the past forgot or intentionally left it out....... Kinda like the support brackets for the cam oil lines. Lol!

Thanks for the help!
