My partner and I were just conversing about this. Where's the Corvette ZR1? Why is Motor Trend protecting it from certain embarrassment against the Porsche 911 Turbo S? Why wasn't it in this race getting stomped with the rest of them? Motor Trend.... Protecting their American ZR1 and giving us a fast Nissan instead. Shame on them.

Whenever I watch cars drag racing I'm always astounded at what a few tenths looks like at really high trap speeds. When you stack a whole bunch of cars like this and thus are able to see the difference between a quick car, a fast car and a stupid fast car it is pretty amazing. Kind of like the video of an E9x M3 vs a Veyron where the M3 was given a large head start only to be reeled in and passed by the Veyron.

Are they protecting the ZR1 or the Porsche 911 Turbo? I think the ZR1 has just been released but I'm not positive. The Corvette crowd would know. Maybe it was too new to get into the race.

I really would like to see a side-by-side 1/4 mile of just the two of them.

I'm sure there is some manner of heavy overpowered plastic Corvette that they could put in this race to lose against the Turbo S. If it's a matter of current year to year availability they could put the last generation ZR1 in this race with a Turbo S from last year, and watch the 2013 Turbo S still win against the rest of the new cars and the Vette. How's that?
Any legitimate video on Youtube that's a real drag race from a stop between a 911 Turbo S and a Vette has went to the Turbo. There's a Motor Trend video from years back about a drag race between the two and they try to make the Vette look better by saying that it WOULD HAVE won the drag race if the race was longer. Longer doesn't count kiddos. A drag race is a drag race. Would have, or could have doesn't matter. The Vette lost. However, the Vette did win on the lap time comparison shootout probably due to it's layout.

Those cars are fast..all but 3 are sub 13 in the 1320. On the street, that's nothing to sneeze at.

Never mind the ZR1. How about, the Hellcat? Avoiding embarrassment as it would have certainly gone up in a cloud of smoke.

The Porsche speaks for itself.

Unless you step into the hypercar arena (918, P1 etc.) the GT-R is the only car that can hold a candle to the 991 Turbo in acceleration.

Joho, I think that Challenger Hellcat is going to be waay too heavy to even contend in a drag race like this. Regardless of what Chrysler says it will do.

The 10.85 @ 126 time was ostensibly NHRA certified... But it was also on street legal drag tires. On stock P Zeros it ran 11.2 @ 125

I truly mean it when I say it's a darn shame that Hellcat wasn't in that race. Imagine it pulling on the 991 or GTR? Would have been a massive upset.

I don't think Chevy is too scared of showing up. Remember less then 1/2 the price of a 911 turbo and having to deal with more restrictions in regards to drivability then Porsche. People will accept more issues with a Porsche then A Chevy any day.Porsche need a new engine at 10k miles, no problem and will be used as bragging rights at the water cooler. Corvette battery dead after two years, what a piece of garbage.

Both great cars and these numbers prove there were no super cars in the 60's we only thought they were.
