can't find/fit cam oil line

I wanted to replace my old lines but the ones I got here just don't work right. Anyone tried to swap old lines for what is sold today. Its about .5" too short if i really tried to pull it. The original had plenty of freedom. Its gong on a 75 2.7. When I look at a line specced here for the 71-73 it actually looks longer and closer to my original. Anybody had this problem, I can't get these to work and can't find any options out there

I remember reading somewhere the new ones have too much bend in them and need to be straightened out a bit in a vice with some wood blocks to protect the tubing.

Might just be easier to take the old ones to a hydraulic shop and have them crimp a new line on the old fittings.

Your new line is incorrect. There are two types available for the right side, get a human being on the phone and get him to work through the parts list with you. It's been 20+ years since I've seen this problem, but it's got something to do with the Carrera tensioners, and your model/year car. My shop used to stock a number of "short" and "long" lines for different applications, but my memory is a little fuzzy on which line fit what car.

I recall that both 'Early S man' and Wayne have chimed in on this as well (in the past), but I don't remember if they addressed the '75. One 2.7 part may have been discontinued.

I am only a little bit familiar with the 3.2, where the tensioner oil line was modified to account for a new anti-vibration bracket that drove a change to the oil hose config'. For the 3.2, there is something like 8 different part numbers to select from when you account for L & R, old and modified. It is a little confusing.

If this is so hard to find, send me your old hose/line and I will crimp a new hose on your fittings.

For info, email me, ONLY.

Welcome to the wonderful world of "upgrade" unplanned "features".

You need the Carrera oil line for early 70s with the oil pressure sender on the top of the oil galley
The new one uses the oil pressure block by the fan

irl - Perhaps you have this resolved. If not, I can make this with whatever length hose you specify.

Should be a piece of cake.

I'm trying the ones speced for the older cars, they look longer. Len, I would send them but also wanted to get it nicer looking than the faded and greyed out plating on them. If the early piece works, I'll get the ends replated and send them to you for the future

Well I figured it out in an old post from Grady, imagine that. My car is missing the block and the pressure sender up front. This extended the cam oil connection point and this setup, starting in 73.5 had a shorter cam oil line. For those that have moved the sender back by the breather back by the breather, you need to use the older and longer line. Although I purchased one, I have a new harness from Dennis and will be reinstalling the pressure sender and block up front.
