Well I posted here a couple of weeks ago that I had changed the plugs in my car.
![]() I posted again about having prob with plug wires etc. Ordered new plug wires on Fri. locally. Sorry Wayne,I could not wait a week or more. Well today I couldn't stand it. The wires were supposed to be here this a.m. Now it will be late this afternoon. So being so impatient I get off of work early and go home to see what else I can do. So I start from scratch. I took out each new plug and replaced the old ones (yes I even saved them, thank god) . So after regapping each plug and cleaning them up a bit I tried to start the car. When I got all six replaced the car started and ran like a flat six is supposed to. Now here is a question for any plug experts out there. I bought bosch platinum 2 plugs, they have a dual prong, instead of one and the prongs are at angles instead of perpindicular. Are these plugs not right for my 3.2? I assure you I won't be trying them again. I bought the plugs at a local pep boys and they are bosch. Maybe the guy sold me wrong plugs although they did work for a while. Any clues out there? ![]() ![]()

I put Bosch Platinum +2s in my car, and it immediately ran like crap. Go with Wayne's NGK plugs. They run great.

Jester:
Be absolutely sure the plugs are not backing out of the block on you. Did you R&R them cold? That is the way you are supposed to. When you removed them, did you think "Boy that came out easy." Just a thought. I still put antiseize on my no matter what Pcar of America says. John

Yea I did everything cold. I put plugs in and out 3 times in the last week so I can do all of them pretty quickly now
I am definitely going to school here learning to work on this car. But when you get it right there is a deep satisfaction, of course when you get it wrong there is deep dispair ![]()

I am still finishing my '72 with 3.2 restoration and my 3.2 would not start. I only drive the car around my block and apparently I never let the engine get hot enough. All the plugs were fouled because the car ran rich on my short commutes. The car was having a helluva time trying to start with all the crap on the plugs. I changed my copper plugs to the Bosch Platinum 2's and now the car starts fine but dies after 5 secs. It also revs great for about 3 of those secs. This engine is twin plugged so I replaced 12 pugs. Could my problem be plug related also?
Thanks, Jon |
