Accelerator rod bushing

Hello,

I need to installed 3 accelerator rod bushing in the accelerator rod that runs through the tunnel. My problem is that I can't locate when looking inside the tunnel of my '68.

I need to know where are these bushings situated along the rod?

Anyone with experience with these bushings please share your knowledge.

Much thanks,
Bao B. Brand new to forum.

Hey Bao,

Okay from the access panel up to pedal cluster:

1st on is under the access panel for the shift coupler on the driver side corner closest to the from. You will see two metal tabs that hold the bushing perfectly.

2nd is under the Shifter, yes you will need to remove the shifter housing. Prior to removing, mark it so you will not lose the position of the shifter and forced to adjust the coupler. Look for the same metal tabs.

3rd one is at the front of the tunnel where the rod is connected to the pedal. You should feel the tabs.

That's it!

After you place the bushing, check throttle body for full throttle position and when at rest it seats properly when at idle. make certain the idle switch clicks when released. Also feel for binding in case your placed the bushings incorrectly. Clean lube all pivots on the rod assembly, at the bell hosing, pedal and TB.

Resurrecting an old thread. I found the one by the access panel. I also found one under where the parking brake lever is located. I do not feel one near the front of the tunnel by the pedals. I have a 1981 SC so I am wondering if anyone might know where that third bushing might go? I hate to undo the shifter if I don't need to. Pelican says there are three, I guess I am trying to confirm it's under the shifter before I proceed. TIA

The one in the front is part of the pedal cluster. Remove the floor board and accelerator pedal to access. Held in by a cir-clip and can be change w/o removing the cluster.
