1974 2.7l msd install questions??

Putting an msd box, msd coil, tach adapter and I think I will get a petronix kit to go away from points. A few questions since wiring is not my strong area and this car is very new to me. So alot of time on here and you tube, so far so good except for a few things.
1. Had a Perma tune box on there. On that wiring harness there are 2 white wires, one red. The red wire goes to a red plastic connector( Picture below) that shares a copper colored wire that plugged into the Perm tune box. On the other end of the copper and red wire there is a ROE ( what looks like a big condenser ) pot which bolts to the console with all of the other electric relay's ect.
So was that a bosche/ perma tune piece that I no longer need?
Is that red wire switched ignition? which I need to hook up to the msd.
Thanks for any help. tried to upload pictures not sure if it worked.
Tim
