Porsche Crest It's Finally Here: 101 Projects Book!!!

Hi everyone! After two years of effort, the completed book finally came into my hands this afternoon. I would have had it with me for the German AutoFest, but FedEx couldn't deliver it in time because of the airport shutdowns.

Unfortunately, I only have one copy at this time, however, the rest are on their way, and should be here September 30th! We will be beginning to take advance orders for the book starting tomorrow (Wednesday) from the offical 101 Projects Website (www.101projects.com).

Motorbooks did not order as many for this first print run as I thought necessary, so I expect that it will sell out within a relatively short period of time (a few months).

Keep a watch on this BBS and Rennlist, as I will be having a contest and giving away free copies of the book. The only catch is that you have to promise to write a review, and post it to this BBS, Rennlist, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.

So, check out the preview site: www.101projects.com and on Wednesday, place your advance order!

I'm very confident that everyone will enjoy this book! Thanks everyone for your support!

-Wayne

Great!
Too bad they changed the cover photo. It seems like all the porsche books have a red carrera on the cover. That engine shot was much more unique!

Anyway, what about those autographed copies for the bbs gang? How do we go about getting those?

Great Wayne, Congrats, how are we going to have our signed? Or are you too busy for us now that you are a renowned author?

Wayne,
I'm looking forward to it!
I tried to secure my copy but the web site says I can't until the 19th.
Will I ever be able to sleep tonight!

Thanks guys, here's the answers to your questions:

- Marketing at MBI tossed out my cover. In fact, I had no idea what was on the cover until yesterday. I didn't care for it, although it was better than the other mockup cover that they had before (yuch!). It's growing on me now - looks good at least on the website.

- I will autograph and sign all copies sold thru that site and Pelican. It's an added incentive to buy from us, instead of a discounter or book store.

- I will set it up so that you can order the book on the site tonite (will upload for tomorrow). Didn't have time last night. If you include it with another order, it will ship out separately when it comes in (still got about 12 days until it gets here).

- There will be instructions for people who would like to order a book, and do not have a credit card. US shipping will be about $4.50 for USPS Priority Mail, and International Shipping will be $10.

- The book is geared towards the 1965-89 crowd, and specifically covers material for those cars. There still is a lot of overlap for the 964 cars, although probably not as much as you 964 owners would like to see of course. In my opinion, the book is so useful, that the $30 price tag is worth it, even if only half of the book applies to your car. I'm going to try to pitch it to 914 owners as well, because at least 20-25% of the projects are also applicable to that car.

- The cover shot is a 1988 3.3L Turbo, and not a bad looking car! Note, that unfortunately, that is not me driving it.

Thanks everyone!

-Wayne

Gosh you cheap bastards who want everything for free. But for the rest of us, once you see the book, you'll understand that it's in a much better, and easier to read/view format than the website.

You can order it now if you'd like. According to my publisher, it's on schedule to be here at the end of this month (ten days or so from now).

Here is the link to the order page:

Good lord, Wayne, that's cheap! I thought it was going to be a $70 book. Great that the price is so low. Is it a hardcover or soft?

Expect my order as soon as I can scrape some consulting jobs together. :|

I pay about $350/year + $120/semester for books writen by the friends of professors in school. Just for a piece of paper that says I'm smart.

$35 for (total?) knowledge of pure joy seems like breath in the wind....

Hi Wayne,
I just placed my order, just send it off to Belgium. This is my first "hard" support for your fantastic website, I also hope your book becomes whopping success! Maybe your book'll help me become a small-time wrench!

They will all be signed (when sold thru Pelican).

Keep a lookout later on today for the 101 Projects Quiz! I will be giving away about 5 free copies to those people who can answer Porsche trivia questions (whose answers can be found in my new book).

From the correct answers, five lucky winners will be chosen to receive a free copy! The only caveat? In receiving the free copy, you agree to:

- Write a reveiw of the book (1500 words or so) AND
- Submit it to Amazon.com
- Submit it to the Barnes & Nobles Website
- Email it to me so that I can place it on www.101projects.com and also send it to the Rennlist.

And of course, to tell all your friends how great it really is!
