The hot and cold air distribution levers on my 88 cab will not stay in place after adjusted. If I push either lever all the way left or right they will go back to near center once I let go of the lever. Any suggestions...adjusted, clean cables...?

I had same problem. The cable was kinked so it wasn't travelling through the housing but just bending when lever adjusted so it would just spring back.
I was able to straighten it and adjust so it works again. It was a pain as I did it under the dash. I believe it happens from people forcing the lever further than it needs to go. |

I don't know if the system is the same on late S or SC models, but if it is, this can be due to incorrect adjustment of the control wire, the arms, or the flaps inside, or possibly the foam gaskets on the flaps inside the vent tubes breaking up.
Make sure everything is aligned properly at points marked A. Make sure the flaps inside these points are in good shape. ![]()

WD40 sprayed inside the sleeve from both ends while moving he adjustment full travel often helps. Same with heater flapper control cables.
