CV Jont Boot Confusion?
Hi all,
During my rebuild of my 77 Coupe I decided to pull apart and check the CV joints, I then realised that I have an odd CV Joint boot, three of them mate directly but the fourth has a flange that goes around the joint. In the picture the odd one is the one on the left but as per Pelicans parts these are the only ones needed. The other question I have is that the one with the flange still used the same bolts but reduces the thickness by about 4mm so are they still ok to use? Just a bit confused as to what should be on there. Thanks Nigel ![]() |

The one on the right is the original with thick sturdy flanges. The one on the left is the cheap tin crap you find most places. I always try to restore the original ones if possible.
You can use the one with the thin flanges, but will need to grind down the bolts like you describe and fit proper washers to keep the bolts where they belong. Or buy new proper length bolts when you buy the washers. The Norlock washers are what I used on my old SC. |

Thanks for that, just wanted to make sure I wasn't fitting back on a wrong part which somebody else had done a bodge with.

With the left one you NEED the moon washers, don't grind down the bolts. The right one don't need the washers only schnorr washers.
