Help with RSR FGlass bumper install????
Can someone help me or point me somewhere. I have a Shaw RSR bumper going on longhood rear. It came with some addl pieces and no help with instructions. Obviously these need to be glassed on but what do they meet up with on the car side and is this the best way to mount. Any info on what you have done would be great.

You will need the RS rubber fender mouldings (tRE has them) which have a slit in them that fit right into the bottom edges of the rear fenders. Dry fit with some clamps and drill down thru existing holes in fender. I drilled an extra fastening point on the vertical section between the inside of the rear light cavity and the vertical bumperette. Made an aluminum bracket from the licence plate holes to the rear cross member. I reshaped and shortened the stablelizer brackets behind the rear wheels to meet the new bumper/valance.
Looks like you will have a space between the centre section and the lower deck lid sill which can be filled with a rubber molding and/or fiberglass build-up. Others have made elaborate bracket from the impact shock mounts out and then across the back to the other mount, then built up attachment points inside the bumper. I did not bother. Hope this helps. I have made my own mounts out of thin steel sheet for FG bumpers that were not as high quality as the shaw. They attached to the chassis where the bumper shocks were removed but I think the same theory will work.
I temp installed the mounts on the car with some slightly over size holes and washers so they have some adjustment. Then I clamp/tape the bumper in final position and mark the inside of the bumper with a marker where the mounts need to attach. This usually takes several on and off attempts to get it lined up and correct. Next I take it all back off rough up the inside of the bumper and start the fiber glassing. As long as you get it fairly close there is some flexibility in the pieces so you can line it up. Maybe some one with more body work experience will chime in. Its a time consuming process but worth it and satisfying when you consider it will be on the car for a very long time and you will always regret it if its not quite right.

RE... Your extra pieces.
That looks like some sort of mount. I've never done it but it looks pretty straight forward.

I did a quick search via Google. Does this help?
It looks like a good way to mount them. Light and on impact they would just break away. ![]()
