MSD HE CDI ignitions WAYNE

Wayne,

MSD, Multiple-Spark Discharge

HE, High Energy Electronic Ignition

CDI, Capacity Discharge Ignition

I've looked in my books for answers, but found no answers.

What is the differance between these ignitions?

And, which is the better of the three?

Ed-u-ma-cate me.........

Thanks!

They're all forms of Capacitive Discharge Ignition. The MSD just has multiple sparks per firing event.

Actually MSD is only multiple spark up to about 3000rpm where it becomes a single strong spark. It can be generally said that an aftermarket performance unit such as MSD produces a stronger spark than stock as well as offering some features or options not available stock such as soft rev-limiting, various types of timing control including programmable and boost controlled and multiple rev-limiters used in drag racing for burnout, launch and topend.
