911sc crankcase breather hose?

Hey all,

I am wanting to replace my crankcase breather hose that runs from the top of the engine to the oil tank. My current hose is just rubber and seems to be pre-formed. Everything I can find on pelican seems to be just straight and cloth covered.

Does anyone have a link to the proper hose or is it not available anymore and must be replaced with generic hose?

Thanks

as I recall there are actually two separate hoses in an SC application with a plastic "joint" piece that ties the two hose noted in the attached catalog page together. as old as many of these cars are stuff could have been replaced previously with a hose that function as, but did not look like the OE goods.

if yir good enough to reach the crankcase vent hose with the CIS still in place, you are the MAN!! usually that's a motor drop task.

It is a straight piece on my '78.
Pelican sells it in bulk iirc.

Just replaced this hose (engine drop) with the Pelican part, you need to route it correctly or it will be too short to reach the oil tank (ask me how I know).

From the research I did I would agree with car 311, originally was 2 parts with the hose to the oil tank being a 90o bend.

My $0.02 - breather hose

I have replaced the breather hose with the CIS in place. It sucked, but it is do-able, and requires patience and entry between the #5/#6 intake runners and some universal joints on your 1/4in socket wrench.

If you have small hands, or have a young helper at your disposal - it will help.

The breather hose is rubber with a cloth covering and is straight (as purchased) on the 79SC and had a slow generous bend up to the oil tank. It was not pre-formed. You may want to lift the car up a little ways...

Good luck!!

I believe that the CIS engines use the straight hose that is cloth covered. The later Carrera 3.2 used a rubber pre-formed hose that was routed around the air cleaner. You can use either as long as it fits.

With my recent addition of PMO EFI, I bought the pre-formed Carrera style since is routes itself out of the way.

You are an hero! But I can't even feel the end of the hose. Waiting for an engine drop to replace the hose...

From memory on my 78 it was two hoses. The engine one was cloth covered and the oil tank one just plain floppy rubber. They were joined with a plastic barbed piece.
The plain one which reminded me of a washing machine hose snaked across the back of the engine bay.

When I first saw them I thought it was a "Kluge" a PO had done.

Honestly they looked ridiculous so I removed the plain floppy one and used the cloth covered one only straight to the oil tank. I didn't cut it or anything.
As it turns out it came from the factory this way. I'm guessing it was to ensure a long term reliable connection on a moving motor.

I think that is what I currently have but as mentioned above the "note" on that listing says that is part of a three piece hose

You should take a pic maybe to help clarify.
I just installed this hose on my 911sc as my previous preformed rubber hose cracked.

Seems similar to mine? I'm no expert and the hose above is what I ordered, however it wasn't the exact same shape and took a little bending to make fit.

Top hose. If this isn't the same hose then I apologize, I'm still learning about this car myself.

Ok, so I ordered the hose listed above and here it is next to my original. I guess I will need the second piece and connector
