can you backdate 84 steering clamshell blinker/wipers switches?
This question might have been answered before, I've tried to search but I've had no luck with finding an answer.
I would like to change the clamshell of the steering wheel and the blinkers/wipers switch from the plastic module on the 84 911 to the chrome/metal set instead. I saw few modules on Ebay and pelican but im not sure if its a plug-n-play or some necessary modification is needed this will be the last step into my attempt to backdate the interior of my car, so your input will be greatly helpful

My guess is yes but I have never attempted it. Another option is to just replace the visible portion of the stalk and leave the innards. Since you are going for look here (i assume) you can cut the stalk, leaving the base and figure out a way to cleanly affix the metal stalk to the nub thats left. My only hesitation here would be strength of the joint but Im sure it could be done. Since the stalks fundamentally do the same thing I cant imagine they are that hard to interchange or that it would require that much work. it may require come custom housing to put over it.
Regards Dave
