Plug leads with Ignitor 2,stock or performance ?
Just fitted Pertronix Ignitor 2 to my Marelli S112bx and it notes clearly in the instructions "do not use with solid core spark plug wires".
Researching this explains why and it makes sense, can I purchase a new set of Beru leads or do I require Clewett or similar ?,our host doesn't list the spec of the Beru leads and thats the reason for asking. My existing (old) leads are solid core Beru as far as I know.

There is nothing magic about the Ignitor 2- it's a hall-effect trigger to a solid-state switch for the coil. It behaves electronically the same way as a set of points, except it can switch seven or eight amps vs. the four of points, allowing more current to the coil in a shorter time for better spark at high RPM, and it doesn't suffer points bounce because it's not mechanical.
The admonition to not use solid core wires is really related to electromagnetic interference. However, in Porsche applications both the Beru connector for the plug, and the distributor cap connector (in modern sets) have a resistance value. The plug connector is 1000 ohms, and the later sets have 1000 ohms in the distributor cap connector. So if you put a solid core wire in between, you have 2000 ohms plus the resistance of the wire, which achieves a measure of EMI supression. Probably not enough to make your AM radio not scratchy though.

Thank for the info, the pertronix site refers to the issue of electromagnetic interferance causing problems with the pick-up,so would I be safe to buy the "new '' style Beru leads?.
