Mobile catalog theme / site...

It's not perfect - we could spend the next year fixing every pixel and alignment issue on every phone - but I made the call that it's good enough to go live today. Much easier to read than our current site on phones. Take a look here and pls let me know your opinion. Be add *constructive* comments:

Pelican Parts - 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Parts and Accessories

Mobile devices (iPhone, Android phone) should automatically use the new templates. iPads and Android tablets, we still default to our full site, which works pretty darn well on the tablets.

Thanks for all your support!

-Wayne

An option(link) for the standard "desktop" view while in mobile browsing would be a good call.

Very nice- the font size plus using a pale Grey background behind the narrative descriptions makes it much easier to read.

Header bar may need some tweaking, mine shows the 3 bars to go to the side menu but the font for Pelican Parts reads ican Pa then the phone symbol, cart and search.
Maybe split the bar or change the font so your name appears correctly.
Does the same in vertical or horizontal view.
Otherwise looks great.

Wayne, I know it's not a related topic but thought it might be helpful... I can't seem to find a "reply" button to PM's when I am using my iPhone. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Just tried it on my iPhone 5S, worked great until I started navigating the parts catalog, clicking on "recommended upgrades" after choosing my vehicle year and model "1974 > 911" bumps me out of the mobile site into the regular site.

Bergo,
It is just a test, not fully integrated yet.

I would like to add that it works just fine on a Windows Phone as well.

Bug when I uploaded some higher-res images. Sorry about that, it's been fixed in the css pages - reload the pages to see it fixed.

thx

The recommended pages aren't mobile optimized yet. That is on my list for this weekend!

thx,

Thanks everyone. It's not perfect, but it's been good enough to roll. We'll be working on it in the near future, but I thought it important enough to release since our new layout wasn't super phone-friendly.

Glad to hear a minimal of problems.

thx

The catalog does not work on either my or a friend's Windows phone.

The front page loads fine.
I choose "Porsche"
The next page loads, but I can only scroll down as far as 2006.
The only way to get to the desktop site is to select a 2006-2014 year, model, etc, which brings up the catalog for that car, then I can scroll down and switch to the desktop site.

Iphone 5S here,

Looks good!
Easy to use (no scrolling around required)
No issues that I can see, ill place my next order from my phone to see how that works/looks

Great work thus far!
