Wayne Carini?
Has anyone dealt with Wayne Carini from "Chasing Classic Cars"?
Was just wondering cause he seems to be into Porsche's based on seeing a lot of them on his lot during the show He seems to be a stand up guy and seems to do good work on his restored cars I'm not considering doin business with him just curious

I recall him saying he wasn't much of a Porsche guy in the episode where he goes to California and buys the '65 911. I have never dealt with him but watch the show religiously.

He's always struck me as more of a Ferrari guy.
Not that there's anything wrong with that... His show is very good.

I think Richard Sloan is a better version who knows Porsche. He's just a flipper if you ask me.

That's what it looks like to me too: Carini is just a flipper with a lot of connections. I absolutely loved the episode where he was selling the two old Jaguars at auction, no reserve, and he took a bath on the one that he was told "had a buyer at 25K". Boo-hoo.

I agree he is more of a ferrari guy, On the episode the other night where he got a 356 barn find the where several 911s and 356s on his lot and have seen a lot in other episodes
I understand he is just a flipper what dealer isn't? Was curious if anyone here has purchased or dealt with him

I have to admit, I lost some respect when he was on his knees on one show with a rattle can painting a wheel on one of his cars while it was on the car, prepping it for sale. Flipper quality work indeed.
Now, I love his mechanic. That guy is fearless. He'll take anything apart. LOL Brett |

I was able to talk with him a few years back at the Mecum auction in Monterey and then at the Carmel Concours. My impression was a very nice and down to earth kind of guy.

for those coming down on him based on what they see on the show should realize that the editors can manipulate the show however they want
most all reality shows are not actually showing reality but a fraction of what is actually going on They are trying to sell the show not Wayne Carini, and I can guarantee he has no control of what they televise I dont remember the episode where he spray paints the wheel but Im sure there is more to it

Seems like a nice guy on his show..and looks like he knows his cars too. Comes across as a hobbyist/flipper. Have to remember..it is a business for him.
Like most business men..he likes the big dollar deals. Therefor..his Rolodex of wealthy collectors and Ferrari. You do see him do some interesting deals with other cars too. |

Just a hard working guy making a living.....He takes chances and has his overhead....I like him and like the show. Not all the "Drama" like those other "man shows"

Yeah I wouldn't really classify him as a flipper....My idea of a typical car flipper would be a dealer that buys cheap low end cars, cleans them up little bit for low money and sells for quick profit
He is buying very high end cars and selling to people who probably demand a very high end product I really don't think his customer base is Joe Blow looking for a good cheap deal on a ferrari He most have an extreme knowledge of all high end cars for these very wealthy people to fly him around in a private jet so he can find them the perfect car

I'm hooked on the show as well ... glad to see that it came back for another season.
Always interesting to see what he finds and he strikes me as a down to earth guy who really enjoys what he does. He definitely has quite a collection sitting on his lot at all times !

I find this a rather dull show. It promises much but at the end of the day I'd much rather watch Wheeler Dealers (yes I know certain elements are staged) or Alain De Cadenet presenting just about anything.
So if you're listening Mr Carini , more actual resto & less of the auctioneering would make this a far better program i.e. more of the chasing (parts , restorers). |

I do enjoy Roger Barr, his mechanic. Nothing phases him - including Wayne. Love that he screws stuff up on occasion. His tattered shirts and droopy trousers are great and his silly words of wisdom make for some fun. Wayne is by no means a cut up. Nice mix. Chasing Classic Cars could survive without Roger because Wayne is likeable (A bit of a snoozer, but very likeable). Unlike Wheeler Dealers, which could not survive without Edd China (I just want to slap Mike in the temple - but that's a different thread). However, given a choice of watching Roger or Edd for an hour, I would choose Roger, hands down. Also, speaking of older mechanics, loved the show where Wayne's dad worked on the little car and just did what he wanted to it vs. what Wayne instructed. ![]() |

I have tons of respect for him on one sole quote; "there's a Ferrari for everyone".
He is definitely NOT a typical snobby Ferrari owner. |
