What is this on the parcel shelf?

Hi all.

Silly question I'm sure, but:
What is the "bolt receiver " thing on the package tray at the bottom of this photo?

Thanks!

MattR

That is where a luggage holder was attached. One is located just below each of the rear seats.. A leather strap would attach to each holder and hold the luggage in the seat.

They can also be used to anchor shoulder belts, though they may not have been designed for that.

Matt,

Is this part of the rear seat delete option?

How about a few more pics?

Thanks guys. I don't think its for the luggage, isn't that the piece above it and to the left? This is a 69e coupe, but I don't know if it's the original sheet metal.

Btw, the pic is taken from the passenger side pointed toward the driver side.

I will try to get another shot.

I'm sorry, I was looking at the item with the red arrow. I think you are talking about the item with the green arrow. I have no idea what that's for.

Correct Shadow. There is a matching one on the other side.
Thanks for the graphic clarification.

it looks like where "retaining bar" attached - part 477 885 765 where you would strap down luggage from the parcel shelf at top (your picture) to heel plate. See Porsche PET 1973 4 pieces per car, 2 each side

I believe the round tube is to secure the optional shoulder belts.

As does the OP, I've got my rear deck panel off & the foam rubber is starting to disintegrate. Should I replace with Dyna Mat of foam rubber? What thickness was the original foam?
