I had a Carrera front valance with driving lights on my SC for a few years, it fitted straight on , I was able to add an extension to the washer bottle bracket and push the bottle forward. I have now gone back to original valance looks cleaner. I never really thought the driving lights were useful,I added HID lights and the driving lights became invisible.

A Carrera valance with the fogs removed gets more air to the oil cooler and front brakes. Besides, it looks all racy.;)

I prefer them gone. I think it makes a short nose look much truer to the original design. Anyone know where I can get some rubber plugs for the holes?

Here's mine with a no fog metal valance with the plate holes filled:

My '74 without fogs. I like the cars either way and even if they don't project light very far, they (at least on my 944) light up the curbs fairly well.

Here is my '83 SC without front fogs.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...psysrt1nnx.jpg

When I got it it had been fitted with a 3.2 valence with integrated fogs, but I changed it back to no fogs as it was originally delivered.

In the UK front fogs were an option on the SC, so not all have them and you can get hold of valences without any holes that need welding up.

Ironically, I still have the rear fogs fitted, but it was how it was delivered (and at least one is a legal requirement here)!

I found one in the classifieds here with no spoiler and planned to drill the holes in it for a spoiler. Shortly afterward, I found an early whaletail for the right price, but the owner didn't want to ship. He lived in NJ, so I decided to take a road trip and pick it up. While there, he asked if I wanted the bumpers from the same car for free. We dug them out of his crawl space and to my surprise it included a fog light delete front valance with a spoiler. As an added bonus, it was in much better shape than the other one I bought too.

As for the wiring, I cut the wires as they entered the car and taped the ends. If I ever add Cibie's or something crazy, I'd like to use the factory switch.

I didn't want to weld the holes shut, in case I change my mind in the future, so I found rubber grommets that fit the hole and used a little water proof silicone to seal them.

I agree Will. I always thought the SC Fogs looked to be an afterthought. But I do like the look of a flush fog.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1442961090.jpg

I like the safety (visibility) factor my 80W H4s and fogs give me for everyday driving. Of course, I live in the Seattle of horrible traffic and even worse drivers, so I'll take any help I can get.

I agree on both fronts. I like the way the 84-89 Carrera valance and the one you have because they appear to be designed with fog lights in mind. The bolted on SC ones look tacked on. If they were circular, I think they'd be better as they'd match the headlights better.

I have that valance on my car....I'm thinking of getting rid of it and going fog less with the original valance. You interesting in buying it? It's been fitted to my car but since it's all flexible plastic there shouldn't be any issues putting it on another 911 SC. I got mine from GT3Tek. I believe the price was $399 + shipping when I bought it last year.

It's a RUF valence

No, one Setrab 500 in the center of the valence. Scoops lead to brakes.

will hung 09-24-2015 04:30 AM

Let me start off by saying that this is not my car, but after seeing it, I really like round fogs at the valance. But then again, it could be that the Cibie's are balancing out the lower fog lights. Either way, I really like the fog light lay out on this car.

I have a smashed drivers side fog light and cant trace the wire up into the fender all that far. Where does it come out in the frunk?

I have been searching and searching. Found a ton of guys whom have deleted the fog lights, but not much info on where the lights actually disconnect from the wiring.

Jesse16 12-28-2015 12:39 PM

The plugs are in the trunk. My lights have two female spade terminals on the light side. Can't remember what the male plug unit was. Just follow the wire carefully to the plug. Right side is down close to the gas tank as I remember on my 87. I did the foglight delete when I painted the car. Painter did a perfect job welding in to match the holes in the valance when it was out. I put the grommets that come to the trunk back in the holes and filled with black rev.. I like it.

Cook&Dunning 12-28-2015 12:49 PM

I have been looking for this thread. I found a pair of fog light grills - they fit perfect in the valence - could be custom made, or could be a production part - I am not sure - built in adjustable, so they would work with fog lights, or instead of fog lights. I stripped them and sprayed with epoxy primer. Has anyone seen these and if so who made them? Thank you

Fog lights are out! Thanks for the tips, I was off a little on the wiring I was looking at originally. Easier than I thought it would be!

So all that is required to delete the fogs is to unplug two connectors and unbolt the lights?

I converted my fog lights to daylight running lights for safety.

My 78 SC never had front fog lights but does have a rear fog light for safety and is I think a legal requirement here in the UK (as someone else has mentioned).
My understanding of the wiring is that when main beam is selected the dipped beam remains on (it certainly does on my car) so that's quite a bit of current flowing through the light switch. And the rear fog light also takes its feed from fuse 6 (left hand dipped beam) so that's even more current going through the light switch. Once I realized this I added relays. Relays also improve brightness of existing lights.

Harpo 03-03-2019 01:28 PM

I just removed mine. Much cleaner look

billydeakins 03-03-2019 01:47 PM

I've been contemplating redoing mine similar to the GProgramm cars, with the 2 rounds in front of a Clubsport style front valence.....already bought the valence from our host, but still contemplating on which lights to use or if I even want to do it....I don't want it to look Pep Boys-y! What do you guys think? And anybody know which size lights they're using....looks kind of like Hella 118 lights to me - top looks like fog and bottom like driving lights.

My 2 cents on this question albeit an older thread-yellow lenses on Carrera valance is on point. Love the look during the daytime too with no lights illuminated.

No Fogs

Here was mine, I really tried to avoid driving any distance at night so the fogs IMHO where of no use. Considered using the switch as part of an anti-theft scenario but never happened. The lenses take a beating down close to the road so that's a PIA for a car that sees highway miles. I understand better why lens covers are a good idea but then you look like a rally driver. I've hit deer carcasses, truck re-treads, etc. so that whole front valance area needs to be considered consumable.

I doubled down and added the rear fog on mine. Can't have too much lighting...I drive day/night, rain or shine, and when visiting the inlaws, transit the dreaded California Central Valley, during all seasons, which includes some of the densest fog known to man, I have seen visibilities of 20 feet.

4flyboy 03-04-2019 09:28 AM

Going cleaner on my M491

Here's mine, I've purchased another wide body valence and will have the holes welded and paint it. I love the clean look like the red beast below (borrowed)...... helps that we aren't required front plates in Florida.

How about just replacing the factory fogs with hi quality same size driving lights (hi-beams)?
I recall Cibie selling real nice set of driving lights back in the 80s and 90s for our cars?
I have little use for fogs but I'd love to have extra set of hi-beams.

kmctm 03-04-2019 11:46 AM

My fogs didn't work when I got the car (SC) so I took them off pretty quickly.

For me, the protruding SC fogs are pretty gawky looking, but even the integrated fogs don't look great — there aren't a lot of flat rectangles on the car, so they sort of clash with the design.

Last summer I replaced the valence with a new one without any holes.
