Wiring harness restoration- advice please
I am currently restoring a RHD 1971T and I was away when my mechanic stripped the car down so it could go off for panel and paint. As a result, I did not get the chance to take lots of photos of how the wiring harness sits in the car.
I was planning to check and re-bind the harness in readiness for installation, but don't known anything about where it goes and in which direction the various branches in harness go. Ideally, I'd love to see a picture of a full harness laid out on the ground much like it would sit in the car. Can anyone help? I can read a circuit diagram and can replace any worn bits, and rebind, but without knowing how it all fits together, its hard.

Would an illustration from a PET catalog help kick start things? illustration 902-10 may give you an idea.
Get the PET free from: Porsche Original Parts Catalogue - Parts and Diagnostic Information - Porsche Service - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG

As you disassemble different sections tape the branches on both sides and take photos so you can re-wrap it the same way it came apart.

As per above post, lay it all out on a table. I do it when cloning harnesses all the time.

Hi Jeff,
Maybe this helps, its a RHD 72 but the layout of a 71 is almost similar.

The "front to aft" harness is almost identical to the RHD (except the part for the gauges/starter wire)
