somewhat sad day- my beloved 911SC is gone

Well after many years of enjoying my 1983 911SC and this forum the end came today, I delivered her to the new owner. She has been a fantastic car and I learned so much. From adding the PMO carb's to Milt's bumpers to autocrossing and a DE at Sebring. But as I inch closer to retirement in 3-4 years I realize owning two Porsche's was not in the cards. Some would say I'm crazy but I decided to keep my Boxster S. She is just too comfortable, she handles so well and she's getting a " secret " engine being built by Jake Raby as I type this. I will miss the 911 but will always remember the good times. Here's a few pics of her just before I unloaded her from the trailer. I have made some great friends on this forum and the knowledge on here is incredible, keep it going guys

At least you still have a P car.
Mine left Dec 28.
My old Bimmer is lonely
Enjoy your Boxster with the secret engine.
Will look for it over in the Boxster section.
Have been considering one of these myself.

Thanks for your posts. Your SC was very cool and loved Milt's work. All the best.

It must have been a difficult to decide between the two. I've always thought of the 911 as a comfortable vehicle to drive (for a sports car) being more upright than others. On the other hand, I've heard nothing but good things about the Boxster. Besides comfort, what else made you come to your decision?

I agree the 911 was comfortable for a sports car and still had a raw edge to it, but the Boxster is much more comfortable. Excellent heat/AC and the seat positioning that makes it feel very good. Slot car handling that is tough to beat, hands of god brakes and the ability to drop the top. Two trunks that actually hold a lot. And that wonderful sound right behind your ears of intake/exhaust/mechanical also hard to beat. Jake Raby has already done headwork and installed the IMS Solution last year and the headwork woke up the 3.2 motor. But in recent discussions with him he has developed a " secret " engine that to date only 5 people own. It is a tremendous piece and I will have one in April. Everything will be brand new and the best of the best parts will be used. I have been asked not to give details so I won't but it will be in GT3 killer category !!! And still daily driver friendly with good fuel mileage I just couldn't say no. You can see from my signature I've owned different models across the Porsche family and they have all been fun. It's all good.

Not sure how long you've had your SC RF... or what you've been through with her... but we--taking liberty to speak for most Pelicans---know what it's like to do the farewell. Would surly be MUCH tougher if your second was a... Jeep. (No offense to Jeeps.) Am loving Jake's "TOP SECRET" engine concept! That's just damm smart.

HAPPYLATEBIRTHDAY RF!

Well, there is no need for farewell from this forum, you can still share here your knowledge on the 911. My favorite Porsches are the 356s, the 911s and the Boxsters. Have fun!

It's always hard to say goodbye! I'm finding myself in a similar position as I have three cars and it could be a full time job to keep them all exercised and properly maintained. However, I'm not quite ready to thin the herd, so they may have to become my retirement projects. Love them all!

And yes, please continue to share your knowledge with the forum.

Oh I'm not planning on leaving this forum ! I'm on here every night just about I enjoy reading and contributing. The Boxster section on Pelican is not as active as it's sister division 986Forum so I do most of my Boxster posting there. They are as crazy/passionate over there as the 911 forum here. It was a great run with the 911 but it was time to move on.

Glad we will still hear from you.

I think about that sometimes...would I still be on Pelican if I don't have my SC?

Can't say. I quit posting on the Mazda and BMW forums when I sold those cars.

I am on a Honda Odyssey forum(yeah, I know WTH?!!!!) because we have one.

It's actually very good and similar to Pelican with good folks helping others.

I too owned a 914 way back when... Loved that cars handling! If only it was more of a Porsche?! Enter the Boxster S! Perhaps the best of everything Porsche? Mid-engine, Top down motoring and modern (working) A/C and heat!

Hopefully you'll let us in on your Boxster upgrade opinion... until then!
