Problem installing Hi Torque starter on G50

I've looked at a number of threads and can't find a solution to my problem. The positive cable does not appear to be long enough to reach the starter when its in its installed position. Even re clocking the starter the cable can't reach the bolt.
Anyone run into this? Is an extension of some sort an option? Ok decided to head to my FLAPS and got a 12" 4 gauge battery cable...any reason to not at least try this?

If I remember correctly, you just need to release the cable from the metal tab holding it in place against the underside of the car. This will give you enough cable without needing to add an extra piece.

Thanks for the suggestion. I removed both clips and it's still a bit too short. Even with re clocking the starter it still won't quite reach. I can get it on the bolt but if I snug up the starter and the raise the engine it will put an extremely heavy strain on the cable. Probably would not even be able to raise it all the way. Looking like I"m going to have to use the "extension" I purchased.

One more question to the experts here. I can only seem to find an short extension that is a 4 gauge, so short of going to a welding supply store and trying to cobble together the parts to have one made, does anyone think there will be an issue using 4 gauge? I can't tell for sure what the existing cable gauge is but it seems fairly close to the extension I have, although I realize the diameter difference between 2 and 4 is not huge so my eyes may be tricking me.

The starter cable is 4 gauge. I have a G50 with this starter and I don't recall having any issues w/ the length of the cable. Odd.

Mat, thanks for that info. I have released all the "clips" on the positive cable and pulled a little of the slack out from the battery, but it's still not quite long enough to reach the starter bolt when installed on the engine. I've tried all 4 possible options with "reclocking" the starter but all are a no go ...just not quite long enough. I assume this is just a fluke situation with my starter cable. I'm going to just install with the extension and go from there.
Thanks again for the reply.

I had the same challenge. Was a while ago but if I remember correctly I just put it on as it was and hope the slight tension it is under is OK.
