Fan Housing Strap removal
If I learned anything form this forum is ask first before you do something stupid and costly. Have to replace the alternator and its completely out with the fan from the 1988 cab 911.
All that is left is the fan strap. I want to paint it and can see no logical way to remove it. The bottom of the fan belt is flat and as it rotates it get locked it. Just checking with the group on how to remove the strap before something costs me big time . Your help appreciated ![]() |

If you are absolutely sure that you want to paint it then I would recommend carefully masking it up in place and painting it there. Reason for this is that as already mentioned to remove it you have to bend it which will ruin the paint job.
Good luck Ian |

And when you put it back, it will scratch.

REK... removed mine on '85 and will confirm what guys have already said... needing to bend it and it scratching on case. Think Ian's suggestion to paint it in place is way to go with this.
