catpipe broke, ordered another; question

The one that broke (one of my straps is mia apparently) was from PP and accepted the O2 sensor. The one I ordered here is Bursch appears to be a true pipe without an o2 insert or larger chamber for gasses to collect. Question is, does it have an o2 insert, and if not, what do I do with the sensor?

I don't know about the Bursch, but the S/S Fabspeed pre-muff I bought has a welded-in fitting for the O2 senser. It is beautiful and was less than $250. From what I've seen, it performs better than a straight pipe bypass. If it's not too late, you should consider one of these.

The Bursch pipe usually automatically comes with an O2 fitting. At least they used to. My guess is that is will still be there.

Come on Kurt, you know the 84 - 89 cars need the O2 sensor.

If it does not have one, take the pipe to any ol' muffler shop (except Midas). Tell them you need an O2 sensor (Butthead's voice) bung-hole (O2 threads) welded on.

Bring the pipe to them with the markings on where you want it welded on.

Usually the shops will want you to bring it by EARLY in the morning. They shouldn't charge you more than $20. Even $20 is expensive! Should be only $10 - 15.

Good luck.

It has a metric M18-1.5 thread and Pelican sells a plug. Or you can put a wine bottle cork into it, but that ended up burning the cork. So go ahead and get the plug.

NP. Got it in two days. It's installed. It has an O2 hole as well. I like this little piece of piping. Sweet. Nice to have a non-harley sounding P-car again. It's still loud, just doesn't sound like a Harley. And the low end torque had suffered from the exhaust leak, which had gotten progessively worse (the pipe was literally busted in half).

I may put the Bursch back on now...maybe Bursch pipe and Bursch muffler will not create that horrible backfiring BOOOOOOOOOM at 6k rpm which inspired me to take the damned thing off.
