side project - crows feet

Amazing how early parts are vanishing off shelves and those that have them want wayyyy to much. i wanted to put a period roll bar in my 73 and use the correct feet rather then the poorly made plates that some supplied . so when i found some in europe they wanted 700euro for a pair !!! hell no

so i made my own and made a few more for others

Wow is that pressed in 8mm plate? if so why so heavy considering what it is welded to,is that for a street car or race car?.

originals which were made in the Porsche race dept for there race cars were 8mm, seems heavy but i follow what the porsche race guys did

Yes, it's welded to the chassis metal but the points of stress around the vertically mounted tube are much greater than across the chassis, so the beefy foot is very important.

It's great to see people stepping up and making these pieces from scratch, then offering some to the rest of us. It keeps them from becoming Unobtanium.
