Installing a G50 gearbox in a '74
Hi all,
1st post! I live in France and I'm a big fan of Porsche. I currently own a 911 2.4 1973, a 964C2 for everyday and last a 1974. My question is about that last one baby. I bought it with a 964C2 engine and no gearbox. I intend to fit a G50. I found a great thread on this forum about G50 shortening but it was about a 6 speed one. My question is, what about fitting a G50-03 (964C2 right?) without having to cut the cross-section tube that host the torsion bars. By how much will I have to shorten the Clutch bell (I heard about 25mm) and the gear axis in it? I've also been told that only a pré-89 G50 can be used as the gearbox nose of a C2 will be too long. I have all necessary machine tools in hand. TIA for any advice |

Did this, but with a G50/00.
To be able to fit the G50/03 you will have to shorten bellhousing and main axle by 25mm, also replace the end cover with a G50/00/01/02. Seen people also has maschined of chunks of the 03

Thanks totle.
What do you mean by "Seen people also has maschined of chunks of the 03" They machined the nose of the gearbox (opposite to the bell housing)? Do you have any photos? links? TIA Last edited by Backdate; 02-12-2015 at 01:27 PM.. |
