Where to find a mirror adjustment switch cap

I have a 86 Targa. I am looking for a new cap for the mirror adjustment switch. The Porsche part number is 911 613 633 01 however, it seems to be no longer available. Does anyone know a source for this part or a replacement?

I thought I got mine from the host of this forum about a year or so ago. Are you certain they don't carry them anymore?

Not sure where you got that part number from, but looking at PET for an '86, the knob is part number 911 613 082 00. Our host sells them. I bought one last year.

I don't think so. The '87 & up had that mushroom style button, the '86 and earlier is the joystick type. A google search of your part number come up with it in Stoddard's catalog. No idea if they actually have one.

BAH! This is my bad. For some reason I thought for sure the '86 and '87 were the same.

I looked and the 86 &87 seem to have the same switch part number, so I ordered the 87 cap from our host. I will report back when it arrives.

I think the switches are different. The Pelican catalog lists the '84-'86 switch as 911-613-115-00 and the '87-'89 switch as 928-613-241-00.

The mushroom type cap DOES NOT fit on the earlier switch. I recently bought that cap (not knowing they were different) and tried to push it on the switch. Pushed a little too hard and the switch separated, releasing all it's internal parts :-( Luckily I was able to re-assemble it. - Manfred

I've owned two cars from 1986, including one built late in the production run, and neither one of them had a cap on that switch. Maybe your car isn't supposed to have one either. JR | ||

On my '86 its more like a rubber dust cover than a cap.

If our host doesn't have it, check out partsheaven.com if you don't mind used/salvage.
