What to Do???? Build or Sell???

I have a extra Euro SC roller.

Was a mechanic lien special,(and payment to me for a job I did for a local shop) but since I have a bunch of stuff that was going into the early roller until my "good friend" of 20+ years with the help of someone from this board screwed me out of, so with a fuel cell, full cage, 3.5 engine, glass dash, lexan windows, ect, I'm leaning towards building another track car out of it And since others have been building project, and I have talked about building a Short hood ST (I have early 930 front fenders & valance)

Course between family & personal health issue, as well as work (this is my busy season) and my 914 projects, do I really need to start another project, or should I sell of the roller to a fellow racer who was looking for a replacement to the 911 he totaled, sell with all the goodies I have for it or should I just sock it back away until I actually feel fully up to the challenge??? Not parting out my track parts or the tub..

My downside is I am slow. I am pretty good but pretty slow. I love projects but big ones result in something being left untended.

As the dancing banana has advised me, "It's just choices".

I am picking up you have a full plate. :-)

Very true, which is why I not worried about painting, the car, just the body parts I have extra for her (930 fenders, valance, duck tail & Euro real bumper, and maybe a set of carbon fiber doors & buddy just offered to trade me)

I've had it on the back burner for a while, and only brought it home as a friend of a friend needed an SC tub, but because of things beyond my control, I wasn't able to make the road trip as fast as he may have wanted, and now that I have it at home, the tiny pin wheels in my head have been turning

I really want an Short Hood ST, but because of health issues, do I really want to put another car in the line up?????

Decisions, Decisions, they are much easier when I'm not feeling well

you could explore new areas of experience by doing a different build...

or you could explore new areas of experience by NOT doing a build at all

then, you have to think about aging & health status - maybe the stuff in front of you are all the builds you will do (until re-incarnated)

or, maybe just drive the cars, and not work on them so much

I don't have the answers for you Byron, but those are the questions I ask myself (I don't really have the answers for me either)

It'll be interesting to see the different advice you get on your different threads too

I say keep life as simple as possible. Drive and work on what you have....rest up/feel better and wait for a sunnier day.

Best,

Balance work and play or the wife may become confused with the priorities.

Being Single, don't have to worry about a wife, my busy season, but I probably should just sell the roller (minus my Fuchs) but tinkering on it does give me stress relieve. I'm keeping my 88 Carrera stock so other than a much needed Wax job, not much to do to it other than drive. her.. But the SC does shine up nicely.

Life is short and tomorrow is not promised to anyone. What do you enjoy more driving or working on them? Do whichever makes you happy!

It's hard for me to say this, but I'd sell it. Unless, of course, building cars is worth more to you, personally, than various forms of driving.

As others have said, we can't give you an answer, but it looks as if you have to consider more than just what this additional toy is worth vs. what real life is throwing at you. If health is a serious question give that fact the weight it demands and act accordingly.

Kind of leaning that direction, maybe making a package deal with some of the other bits I have for it.. To bad the guy who wanted it changed his mind (or someone did) about rebuilding his crashed race car, that would have made the decision pretty easy...

For the right trade, I'm very willing. I polished out a spot the other day, and looks like it could be shined up.

Looks like a good candidate for what you had in mind. I'm sure someone will offer you enough to get a decent Cayenne. Its nice to have a project. It's not so cool to have too many at one time.

I've been thinking it would be nice to have another "swap meet" here in Jax. How did that get set up in 2013? Maybe you can off load it at an event like that?

Hi Steve,
I only was the Pepper Wagon to give to my Mother, an if we sell off the B&B track cars, I I'll be without a track car for the 1st time in 20 years (made a deal with my red & white 69 car) and no way is the matching numbers 914-6 going on the track.

I set that event up, the only reason I haven't set up another,is that I'm having some health issues and just haven't felt up to doing another, I'm the type of person who won't do something if I can't do it 125%, have always been that way when it comes to events. Where in Jax do you live?

If you decide to sell them, I am interested in the turbo fenders.

I'm over in the Mandarin area. I have the Silver '83 SC.

Very sorry to hear you have health problems. Hope you feel better soon.

With the 914 being one of the big attractions at Ameilia Island this year, it would probably be a good idea to see what happens with that model. My bet is they take off like the 911 did recently.
