Pics - the 83 SC & 93 C2
I finally took several pictures of the new 964 I drove back from Dallas several weeks ago. I just replaced the 16 inch cup wheels with a set of 17 inch 2002 Carrera 10 spoke wheels - entirely different look. I'm not totally convinced I like the look. Comments welcome.
The SC is sold, the buyer comes next weekend. I will miss her, she's been in the family over 10 years! ![]() See: http://www.patalive.com/por Chuck |

I like the wheels. Do you have a pic with the old wheels for comparison?
You need to lower it a bit though, get it down like your SC.

Chuck,
It will look better to you when the SC is out of the driveway. that is one pretty car. I like the new wheels, but I agree the car needs to come down. Jeff C

Like red?
![]() I'm not a big fan of most wheels, but I've always liked those 10-spoke wheels. Nice look. |

Honestly? I like the car, but I'm not that big on those wheels - the spacing of the spokes is too open for my taste. But I'm weird, I'm the only guy that likes the Design 90 wheels.

I think the wheels are cool, but -- as has been said already -- you're an inch or so too high above them.

Those are great pics. They are both great cars.

The wheels look great. I would lower it roughly an inch to balance out the look.

Thanks for the comments on the car and the wheels. I agree completely, it's sitting way too high. Even my wife says it looks like a 4x4. Overall, she likes the "tough" look of the SC but really likes the C2's power steering and G50 tranny.
- I have a line on a set of HR springs and Bilstein shocks - should bring it down about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Chuck |

Crummy, before the SC leaves, swap the tails.
![]() Come on admit it, you really wanted a RSA. LOL Like the wheels, really like 'em with a set of Michelin Cup tires and a little brake dust. |

Chuck, those are two great-looking P-Cars. I wish I would have purchased your SC, but Virginia to California is a long drive! Guards Red is my favorite P-Car color. (my wife thinks I am going thru a mid-life crisis on the color thing, but I am to old for a mid-life crisis)
The wheels are a personal thing but I am always in favor of factory wheels but those 10 spokers are some of the better aftermarket wheels that I've seen posted on this board. Don't know what your house cost but if it was here in the San Francisco Bay Area, it would be about $900,000. ![]() ![]()

I think 964's in red are a great looking car.
Nice choice Chuck! Probably a big difference in feel between the two cars, no?

The wheels on the C2 look good. Maybe I’m bias but damn the SC looks good. Don’t get me wrong, I think both cars are beautiful, but there is just something about the SC that the C2 doesn’t have, and I don’t mean the tail. Anyway, congrats on both of them, even if you are getting rid of the one I like.

Not to highjack this thread, but how do you like the C2 vs the SC?

Well, as Don Wohlfarth told me, it's almost like the SC and the C2 are from different car companies. Don has both a 82 SC and a 93 or 94 RSA, so he knows. And he is right. The SC is a very visceral, raw feeling car - lots of feedback, in ride, steering and sound. At low speeds, it feels a bit old. But get it to speed, add a couple of turns and curves, and there is nothing that compares. Cat like, and mean. Give it some gas in the turns and it just hunkers down and flat out sceams. One takes pride in driving these cars fast because it takes skill - that back end does like to come around. And downshifting quickly - deliberatly on the track, takes skill. But it's pure FUN!
- The 93 C2. hmmmmm. It's quiet, it's refined, it has gobs of torque, even in 5th gear. The climate control works - set it and forget it. It has the smooth shifting g50 - and it has power steering, and it has BRAKES. Whoa! Does it have brakes! - - - But - - - - It is not visceral. Maybe it will be when it is lowered and I drill out the airbox and perhaps replace the primary muffler. But, it's still a 911 and great fun to drive. For me, having to make longer trips to Philly from WashDC, it is the better car right now. - Probably the most difficult change for me is the power steering. I find it difficult to take corners smoothly - it's too easy to correct or adjust. I find myself over adjusting in the middle of a corner or sweeping turn. In the SC, one has plenty of feedback pressure - you know exacltly what your tires are doing. I don't have that same level of confidence or comfort yet with the C2 that I had with the SC. I need to get it on the track and learn its limits (and mine too ![]() - One last point on steering - my SC had been lowered and as a result, had considerable bump steering on rough city streets and the Beltway. One becomes use to it and you tend not to notice it - - - - -until you drive the C2 with power steering. No more bump steering - it just goes straight without effort. - Anyone else want to compare the cars? Chuck Last edited by patalive; 10-28-2002 at 04:24 PM.. |
