Blaupunkt Lockout Code question

Hi all - bought a 80s Stuttgart off ebay. Seller says he didn't need the code when he powered it up last. Is this possible? Was remanufactured by Porsche at some point - did they disable the lockouts after a rebuild?

One more thing - are the web based code merchants useful? Do you actually get a working code for your few bucks?

Many thanks in advance for any help. Wanna deliver the radio to the installer ready to rock.

Not sure about what porsche did in the 80s but i used an online site for the codes and it worked, they provided a bunch of codes and one worked. This was for a bluapunkt radio in a 2000 Barina, aka Opel Corsa.
