Sherlock Holmes and The Disturbing Clunk

For a few days now I've been experiencing a weird clunking noise from what seems to be either the transmission or front right wheel areas. Originally I only noticed it when making left turns, but increasingly I've also heard it when going over bumpy pavement. It's a very distinct, metal-sphere-inside-another-metal-sphere rattle-y clunking noise, and the only time I've heard anything like it was when I carried my mini fridge up a flight of stairs to my apartment in college.

My two best guesses from reading similar threads are a bad ball joint, bad transmission mounts, or both; though I can't feel anything strange in how the car drives when I hear the noise. If anybody's experienced anything similar (or knows what sort of sound I'm talking about), I'd appreciate your help.

The only sound I can think of like that is when you break a mount for a sway bar...but I would check the strut mounting points on that side as well.

Okay, thanks, I'll check those out then. That seems like something I'd be able to feel though, or could I conceivably drive the car without noticing it?

Suggest putting her up in the air and check your CV joints.
