I think I'd be a bit concerned about doing mods to mine that I knew would negatively affect the car's value. I think most backdates would. I briefly tossed the idea around in my head about backdating. Not gonna do it. A steel wide body conversion - love the wide look, but probably will leave it stock.

Mine isn't completely original, but close. I have 17 inch Zuff wheels (kept the factory 7 and 8 15s in the garage), redone much of the suspension (but it was more of a renewal with uprated torsion bars, ER rubber bushings, dampers), Wevo classic shifter, Becker CDR220radio, etc... The body and everything else is close to pristine and very stock. I think the windshield is even the original Sigla. Everything I've done so far is very easily reversed.

However, with that being said, I have absolutely no issue with putting the miles on. In the last five years, I've accumulated about 35 thousand miles. Thats a huge amount more than what it had when I purchased. But I also maintain the hell out of it.

But also, when I decide I really, really NEED more power and bolt-ons aren't gonna cut it, I'm probably not going to bolt a 3.6 based engine replacement. Maybe I'll use a 3.7 LN/JE cylinder/piston set in the original case to get the displacement I want, mixed with all the other goodies to get me a high power lump out back. Maybe 930 brakes. Or maybe not. Possibly an SC valence to eliminate the fog lights, change black window trim and door handles to bright, interior colour change, remove rear bumper pads... But there's nothing, except the engine and interior, that's a major, not easily reversible, change that I'd want to do.

I've chosen to keep it mostly stockish (or stock looking) because I bought the car I wanted. Plus, it's too nice to mod extensively (for me). I want to enjoy my car. It's not an investment, even though it's value may be rising. I don't want to throw money away, either, for a fad. If you want a long hood, buy a long hood. They're not that much more cash.
