Bentley's Electrical Diagrams-GGRRRRRR..

I'm moving a complete '86 electrical harness to my RST build and I'm now trying to solve some electrical gremlins.
My dash lights come on as soon as I turn on the key to "on" whether or not the head light switch is off or in parking lights, or headlight modes. So I'm trying unsuccessfully to trace the Black/Blue stripe wire that leads out of every illuminating light bulb in the dash with no success. I refer to Bentleys pages 970-79 and 970-80 (Instrument Panel) and it points the Black/blue wires to the "Interior Light System". I can't even find a reference to the dimmer switch for the dash lights that would logically be in the Exterior Lights page 970-65, but its not! My manual does not have anything that remotely describes the "Interior Light System".
Does anybody have a diagram or provide some insight that would help me?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Johan

Grrrrrrr is right! I have both the SC and Carrera Bentley book. Checked the Carrera, and no interior light diagram. went to the SC book, and low and behold page 970-24 is the
"Interior Lights" page. Looks like they just left that page out of the Carrera book! ARG!
The SC interior lights page looks like it would be VERY similar to what the Carrera should be. Shows the dimmer reostat in the breakdown of the light switch. I would send you a scan of the page 970-24 from the SC book, but my scanner is broken. If someone who has an SC Bentley book and a good scanner could send the OP
a copy of page 970-24, I'm sure he'd appreciate it greatly!

I thought I could help you out. I thought I had a PDF version of the Porsche Factory Workshop Manual for the Carrera, but when I looked at it, it is actually a PDF version of the Bentley... So It is also missing the interior electrical wire diagram. I do have a Factory Workshop Manual in PDF, but it is for the 964. Now I need to find a Factory workshop Manual for the Carrera in hard copy or PDF.

Since I also have a hard cover copy of the Bentley Carrera, I went to Bentley's website to see if they have a correction page for the interior wire diagram and I didn't see anything. Maybe if you contact Bentley they can put a correction page on their website.

The Porsche Factory Workshop Manual has the interior wire diagram in it if anyone has a copy of the 84-89.

Gordon,
The Pelican diagrams go up to '78 but they do provide "some" insight into the interior light system. I'm going to compare and see were that takes me.

uwanna and Derek,
Much appreciate your digging into your manuals, etc.

If anyone else can shed light on my issue, please post.
Johan

Black/blue should go to terminal 58a of the light switch. Look at the '78 schematic from Pelican, it is very clear. I hate the later year diagrams compared to the current flow diagrams that show everything...

Here is the section you want to look at. E1 is the head light switch. E20 is the potentiometer to adjust the dash brightness.
