Missing glove box switch wire??

In the process of replacing the dash pad on my 70 911. Looking to make other things work ... While you are in there... And noticed the exterior glove box light is missing a wire on the glove box door switch. I have traced all the wires but no luck. Looks like the PO may have had a wire there as it had a non original crimp style connector on the spade tab however no wire? Can I just run a ground jumper wire from the switch to the light? Problem is what tab would I run it to as all the wires appear to be on the light itself.
There are 2 black wires. Positive from the clock I presume. A brown ground wire on the frame of the light and a brown wire with white stripes on the other side of the bulb.
All the wires from the light go into the harness so I cannot tell which wire should go to the switch. Any help would be appreciated!

Check the wire that is there, it may be hot, as I remember they only run one hot wire up there and just ground the light to the body sheet metal with a tab on the edge, but I could be wrong its been awhile since I had mine apart..

Thanks for the reply Craig. The problem is that there isn't a wire going to the small push button switch inside the glove box door? I believe this this switch just grounds the light and completes the circuit once the box door is opened?

Yea thinking about it now I'm sure that's how it works the button grounds when it's open that's why I always had to snap mine a few times to get it on.

As suggested there is only 1 wire (brown/white) from light fitting to glove-box switch (the switched earth) there is a (brown) wire from light fitting to earth (the constant earth) and a (black) wire from the door switches (etc.).

This means that the switch can be selected to 3 positions:
On using the 12v and constant earth
Switched using the 12v and switched (when glove box is opened) earth
Off

Hopefully the picture may help

Regards,

Neil

Thanks Neil. I see that the brown wire with the white stripe is connected to the door switch. Not to sound foolish but what is the black fuse like connector between the brown and white wires in the diagram?
Cheers
Darryl

I think that is a multi-way connector. I didn't have any of this wiring or the light fitting or switch in my car when I bought it along with the wiring for the interior light so I used the wiring diagram to create a new wiring loom. I cannot confirm for certain what that thing is that I have assumed to be a connector. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to tell you.....

Cheers, Neil
