79 ROW Sparkplugs ?

Looking to buy a set of sparkplugs for my 79SC ROW. I searched but didn't find what number plug I need here in the forums. Car is stock except for SSIs and is just street driven so looking for a stock plug.

My English owners manual lists them as Bosch W145 T30 W8D
My German owners manual lists them as Bosch W225 T30 W5D
The Bentley lists them as WR8DC (heat range as listed in US version, but it is Bentley)

From reading it appears the the NGK copper plugs should be fine but what part number from our host would be correct for my Euro?

I wouldn't be too confused other than the difference in the US vrs. ROW numbers. Are the ROW with no emission controls different?

Terry

I have a 930/03 in one of my cars (ROW 1979 SC base) which is a 3.2 short stroke upgrade (Kremer).

Their recommendation was W3CS (silver) or W3CC (same heat range, only copper).

I have been running W3CS for years without issues, and yes, the recommendation differs from Euro to North America....

Hi Dennis, my engine is a 930/03 as well but other than the SSIs is stock. Your 3.2 SS probably would need a different plug than mine. Wish I were in the market for a figuring out what plug I would need for a hot rodded engine.

Intake is the stock large port with all the euro fuel pieces, and came to me with the Euro pre-muffler, never had any US emissions parts added. Only change was the SSIs and pre 74 muffler.

I think W3CC was the original plug that was specified. There were a lot of differences in the US vs. ROW cars. One thing that may have been on their mind (Porsche engineers) is that, in Germany, it was not unusual to see extended running at very high speeds so they may have had selected a plug heat range with that in mind. In the US, speed limits were low and most of the driving was stop-and-go in the city.

JR good point, and one to consider here where I am. Lots of <45 MPH roads but is filled with very few straits/flats longer than 1/4 mile. Lots of fun as I run mostly in the 3000-3500 range, hard to get to 4th let alone 5th gear. I have a hill climb right out my garage door averaging 12% up to 22% incline. So I don't consider high speed too often as a factor.

DaddyGlen how did the WR5DC+ work for you burning wise in what kind of driving conditions?

The WR5DC's work fine. They eliminated the pinging I had under hard acceleration and haven't caused any problems. Driving was spirited 'round town with some occasional triple digit dashes and some autocross.
