New Cayman looks like a 911?
I guess Porsche figure they cannot tamper with the 911's rear engine so they will slowly make the Cayman into the 911 in order to get the engine in the middle.

Somehow those pics don't do it for me. The back half seems slightly Audi TT-ish to me. Or even Mitsu Eclipse-ish. [ducking] But hey, I'm not exactly the market demographic for buying a $60K car, anyway.

If I had to guess. Porsches strategy is to make the Caymen closer in look to a 911 to sell more units. Personally I think the car is rather attractive but I did like the subtle differences of the original Caymen. All this being said, I reserve full judgement until I actually see it in the round.
Porsche has moved strategically to become one of the most successful car companies on the planet so though I don't agree with certain moves the company makes or rather the questionable design of the Cayenne & Panemera, I think they are making the right decision to stay competitive, grow the business and solvent for the future and it allows Porsche to pursue other fun exploits.... ![]()

Looks good to me. How do you get to the midengine. Remove the seats?

excellent, I drove a cayman and loved it but I hated the back end. Now I can see myself buying one.

Same here. There's something odd about the back of the curent Cayman when viewed in profile. This one looks a lot better.

I like it! In reality though, don't all Porsches look like the 911? Really? All of there cars have a 911 inspiration to them, even the sport ute.

I don't like it. They ruined the back end, which is the best feature of the current Cayman.

I like it a lot. If I didn't have a need for the rear seat area for the dog, I'd be all over that Cayman (S or R).

I loved the Cayman when it came out. I don't love it anymore. Given a choice of Cayman or Boxster with a hard top, the Boxster wins for me.
But, I don't have that choice.

I liked it at first glance but after comparing it to the pic of the existing Cayman, it looks very, ummmm....bloated.
Then again, a 997 compared to a pre-'99 911 looks pretty bloated as well.

Looks a little porky in the photos, I prefer my 06 S model's looks...... Maybe it will be better in the flesh.

Looks like that rear is camoflaged. Note the fasteners around the rear quarter windows, seem to holding on a cap. They may be disguising the rear window line.
