Shiny new Supertrapps...

If I run two of these as the only mufflers attached to a stock 993 headers and Cat, I wonder what level of noise reduction I can expect. Any ideas? Anyone run Supertrapps after a cat? It has got to be quieter than hooking them right up to headers, right? How much sound reduction does the 993 cat offer?

Moses,

Don't know about how loud with the cat, but from headers running 10 discs and the full block plate in your picture I am right at 92bd on my 2.7 RS spec motor. You might wan't to think about the Supertraps as many knowledgeable people have explained to me that they are actually quite restrictive compared to other systems. I know on my motor they are choking the power down quite a bit compared to running them "open".

Best,

The Supertraps are very restrictive when enough disks for noise supression are installed. As an alternative several East coast racers that I know of are using Coast mufflers on their headers. I have personal experience w/ them. They are light and not only quiet but also have a pleasing tone to my very critical ears. You will still need to plumb some ss tubing to get the otlets properly positioned. Most any competant muffler shop can do that for a reasonable price.

i had a header on a type 4 in my 914 with an older supertrapp, extremely loud at full throttle, cruising at 70mph for anything longer than 20 minutes became unbearable, needed ear plugs
