Another eBay fraud in progress?

This sure doesn't look like an '87 to me. Where are the H5's? Where's the clear script on the rear center reflector? Anti-lock brakes on an '87? Airbag? What else am I missing? There should be a separate board for all these eBay monstrosities.

If these things really bother you, send the guy an e-mail. Sometimes the people honestly don't know about their cars and can use the advice (though buying from these people would scare the s**t out of me).

I've e-mailed a few people on EBay and they've changed their ads. One guy listed a 996 Cabrio as a 968, another described a Boxster as having a V6. In both cases, the sellers genuinely seemed clueless and happily changed their ads.

Probably an 86 which is first time registered in 87.

How can one sell a Porsche and not knowing anything about it? I've seen the V6s too, as well as the airbag equipped Carrera 3,2s... I mean how do these sellers get their hands on a Porsche?

Perhaps the current lister is just regurgitating the facts as he was told after buying the car from e-bay 6 months ago.

Jeeze $17k for a supposed '87 euro w/190,000 miles? I'm sooooo surprised there aren't any bids.

I looks more like an '86. No antenna in fender, older (pre-87) lights, and the black Porsche logo in rear reflector.

I agree with the "seperate board" for ebay comments. Not like I am any great contributor to the braintrust of this board but the "LOOK at THIS one on Ebay" posts have become a daily occurrence. Then everyone jumps in and flames on the car, etc. In the NFL that would be a flag for "piling on". Not trying to start anything, nor feeling particularly argumentative this morning just my .02 cents.

God help me if i ever have to sell my car on ebay! my fragile ego couldn't take all the flaming on my mediocre mechanical additions to the car!

Sarcasm? Last year (when prices were stronger) there were 2 '87 coupes I called about with about the same mileage (one had a rebuild) and asking was under $14K. They both sat for weeks before selling. High miles = low price

Looks like a Euro conversion.
Note the side markers and the small bumperettes. .

Got that turbo tail on the Carrera body looks AWFUL. It looks like it could take flight at any moment.

"We are at 62 41.3 29, preparing to apply thrust. 3, 2, 1...."

It has the right headlights though. Those sealed types were factory until 87.

PS. Did someone write them, 'cause it says '85 now!

I wrote him that he might want to check his ad. The car isn't an '87, doesn't have air bags or antilock brakes.

Looks like the ad has been changed in Ebay. Now the car is 85 Carrera and the items objected to have been removed from the ad (no ABS, airbag).

Now what does everyone think about the car?

Gray market and too expensive. Should be around 12-13K for a car pushing 200K miles and with a European history. Might be a nice car at the right price.

Sorry Dan, I thought your rolly eyes were only referring to the latter part of the post. You need more emoticons!
