shock, spring, bushing. SQUEAK!

Hi folks.
'87 coupe, Fuchs, 85K miles, well cared for.
When I put my knee on the front corner (bumper) and push down and let go, I get squeak squeak as it bounces back. It's still pretty stiff, but not hard. Don't get continuing bouncing (once up and stops) but the squeak continues one beat. Same on both front corners. Also get the same sounds plus some clicks and clunks when I do it to the rear corners. Again, not soft, but pretty noisy. And not as hard as it could (should?) be.
What do you think? What might I be looking at? What would you suggest?

Oh, and one more thing- I don't know if this is related, but sometimes at walking speed- barely moving, I get a rubbing/harmonic sound- as though there is a slight parking brake on type of sound (though not) from the front end. Don't think it is a calliper dragging because on any tiny slope she still rolls nicely and does not grab to a stop.

Can you hear it inside the car when you are driving? If not and the car drives OK, why worry?

On the other hand you may want to do a complete suspension refresh. You know, "while you are in there" you may as well do it right.

You may also have some dirt in your brake pads.

No, except for the vibrating sound at walking speed or less, there are no noises when I drive it. Yes, I can leave it alone. Nobody would notice. I wonder though- not having driven another one- if it might handle better if I did something. Not necessary but desirable? I drive the thing quite sportily... on the back roads- no track use. I did the knee tests to see what I was dealing with. I'm no expert.
As for the brake pads dirt possibility, that's a good thought, but it's been constant like that for a while- so I would imagine that it's something more hardware oriented.

I'm sure others will chime in. If you can give us some history on the car it will help.

If the suspension is all original you may want to consider new bushings, strut inserts, tie rods and ball joints.

Also there have been a ton of threads on suspension refreshing.

How much brake pad is left?

If you only want to identify the source of the squeak, you could lay on the ground using a length of hose. Hold one end of the hose up to your ear and the other to areas you suspect as the source. Have some one else push up and down on the car.
