80 SC Throttle Sticking

I just got the car back from deep mechanic rehab of CIS - new air box, injectors cleaned, everything checked...

...but I still have this persistent throttle sticking issue when the car's warm. Wonder if anyone has been down this road. It only happened after the car warms up, when I drop into neutral and take my foot off the gas, the RPMs stay stuck where they were unless I tap the gas. I'm feeling nothing unusual in the pedal BTW.

I think the mechanic missed it because the car never ran hot enough on his test runs...

I had the same issue. I lubricated the pivot point of the throttle linkage on the side of the transaxle. Works like a charm now. I think when the motor/trans warms up it must get snug.

Plastic bushings at tranny and top of engine locations in good condition?
I replaced all mine with brass a few years ago. Smooth as butter.

+1

Also try plugging the decel valve. May not be the problem but it's easy to get to it and do it and at least you've ruled it out if that's not it. I'm suggesting it since you've had work done on the CIS and the problem started after that work. If the throttle bellcrank and transmission are he problem then it would be more likely a coincidence.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.
