Source for back dated Blaupunkt radios
Looking to find a modern Blaupunkt radio with iPod compatibility with a 70's period look. Anyone know a good source for one of these radios? Thanks in advance

Check out the Retrosound USA Model 2. Here is their unit in my '69's dash. They have other knobs and faceplates to match other makes and eras as well. Multiple USB ports and Bluetooth music streaming.

Can also try SW Stereo. They produce a vintage looking Blaupunkt that can be fitted with ipod hook up, etc. I took my working Monterey out of my 84 and purchased their Dearborn. Plug and play and cassette vintage with modern ipod function. Cool

Search for a great thread by r-mm; he wanted the Blaupunkt aesthetic in a modern unit...and found it. John.

There are Bluetooth FM transmitters on the market. If you have an existing vintage radio, this option is less intrusive. Plug it into the cigarette lighter, tune old radio to matching FM station and enjoy handsfree service on your Bluetooth mobile device.... Pandora, calls etc.

If it's a vintage Blaupunkt with the round plastic connector in the back, there is a schematic showing how you can make an iPod jack to allow you to just use the amp portion of the radio. I made one for my 914-6 and it is nice to be able to use the iPod.
The connector is used to attach the tuner portion of the radio to the amplification circuits. I'll try to find and post the schematics, it was an easy project with just a few inexpensive components.

If you don't mind having it shipped from abroad, try Mike Seer in London:
CHROMELONDON Vintage Classic Car Radios For Sale. BLAUPUNKT GRUNDIG BECKER PHILIPS RADIOMOBILE OEM He is a great guy and will work his magic to source exactly what you are looking for. He got me a Becker Europa for my '76 911S, which is not strictly perfect for that model, but it was of the era and I think it looks great. ![]() Try him, I think he ships all over the world, he may have exactly what you are looking for. |

Almost all vintage Blaupunkts and Becker radios have a DIN plug in the back that an Ipod Adapter can be plug into. You just need to the buy the adapter plug. They are different for mono vs. stereo models.

If you go the din plug adaptor route for an iPod interface, also keep in mind that you can now do it wirelessly using a bluetooth>rca adaptor like this -- https://www.rocktheboatmarinestereo.com/html/64631.html

I agree, and I forgot to mention that all his radios are iPod/MP3 ready. He can also make them DAB compatible, if you have that in the US?

I use these two pieces a lot in my customers vintage car installs. Leave the factory head unit for the look and ad a blue tooth module with a small 25rms by 2 amp. it will fit under the dash were the stock radio is and your phone becomes you head unit . It will wireless stream anything you can play on your phone. Memphis audio part #16-MXABTAC and 16-SA225.
