DFW trusted shop?
I live in the Dallas area, and I usually take my 911 into Mayo Performance in mid-cities. However, we've moved on the far edge of the metroplex, and now the drive is a bit prohibitive.
Does anyone know a good shop in the Dallas area (Dallas or east of Dallas) that can work on vintage 911's ('84)? Thanks!

Well you might try Autoscope, also there is supposed to be a really good air cooled guy and the Porsche Dealer in Plano. I'm in the Park Cities and still willingly drive out to Zims if I need "professional" help. Its a bit of a haul but worth it. I can see that Mayos might be a bit of a haul if you are on the east side of Dallas. I do 99% of my own work but thats getting to be a bit old, not to mention I'M getting old!

Well I only frequent Mayo's... But if Barry Gibbs 911 Enterprises is still around they used to be well regarded and located further east.

Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, I think I may end up just going to Mayo. They do such great work! I'll look into the alternatives first.
It's great to belong to such a friendly, helpful Porsche community. Thanks again, all!

Great to hear all the thumbs up for Mayo.
I am a first time buyer, who is looking for a reputable services partner (im based in Las Colinas)...Mayo seems to come up all the time... I wonder how their pricing is compared to others? Paying premium for quality? |

Mayo's is now $119.00/hr. My 911 has never run better. Mike, Tom and Ed are all great guys. Ed is the Early 911 Answer Man for PCA Panomara magazine. They have a get together the 3rd Saturday morning of each month and host the May At Mayo's Show n Shine concours on May 2. Why would you go anywhere else's?

I think you'll find that 119/hr is within a few dollars an hour of any of the reputable shops in town. I've worked with a few and while I haven't had any bad experiences, Mayo always delivers on my expectation plus some. I have found the work to be meticulous. They are quality guys.

Another vote for Mayo's too.
Although I have used Ed at Mullenix Motorsports in North Dallas. He is active in the local PCA chapter (Maverick region) and his shop is very close to my home. I had him do some small stuff and seems very competent.

Hey cooldaddysquid, I think I live near you. I think I saw you driving around once. I try to do my own work as well.
Mayo has a lot of good reviews as you see, RAC has done well for me too and is a lot closer. |

How would you grade his electronics knowledge? I would like my fuse box cleaned up but it seems like a lot to tackle. |

I've known Ed Mayo over thirty years and Tom Petrushka nearly as long... to me they are the best in the business.

I only used Ed for my shifter coupling repair, nothing electrical, so I can't comment on his knowledge. Dave
