help deciding on shifter
I am so torn. Going through and redoing my interior and can't de idea to do w Wevo or Hargett. Either way I'm doing a conol delete. I just want function, responce and reliable. Not about price or keeping g it stock looking. The wevo would take way more work and cost a lot more. Having to get another shift housing is becoming a challenge. Something that will match and look good too.
Any advise. |

Hargetts are cool, but the way they cover the parking brake is irritating, and the exposed shift rod/open tunnel is kind of cheesy.
Why can't you use your existing shift housing? Are you putting it in a '72? Also, I'm not sure where you're looking, but at Pelican the Wevos are about $600 new, vs $765 for the Hargett.

I'm still in the middle of my build and went with WEVO. The Hargett was a lot more expensive and I wasn't too fond of messing with the parking brake at all.
Here's mine, I just put it together a couple weeks back. The shifter housing (original to the car) was powder coated matte black. Are you missing a shifter housing? ![]()

I agree. Too bad Hargett didn't make more of a clean street version. I TBI k I'm going to get the Wevo just was thinking about keeping the housing exposed and would want to have it match the wevo top plate. I may just paint it black or powder coat it.

Rennshift shifter. It is a complete plug and play unit, including the housing. No re-use of stock shizzle. Works great too. I've had one installed in two different cars.

Sll options are great based on satisfaction reports around here. Mind you, when you start digging, i see prople run into small problems with the rennshift (broken handle, adjusting issues, reverse lockout issues). The wevo is simple, effective, and solid.
But again, all seem to be good. Can't go far wrong really. |

The JWest shifter is plug and play. It's certainly easy to install and gives you a few options for looks.

I have to say that the standard shifter works really well especially with the Seine gate shifter added to give you peace of mind and greater certainty with the 3-4 centre-ing and wotnot. I happen to think it looks really cool too.
![]() Advantages - price (a fraction of what other items cost), originality (it belongs in your Porsche and the Seine gate is a nicely made add-on), function (it does exactly what it is designed to do - prevents inadvertent 5th to 2nd gear-changes or similar as it tells you exactly where you are), looks (it looks pretty cool) Disadvantages - I don't know of any Admittedly I haven't tried the other options mentioned above on my car. Therefore I cannot ascribe that what I have is better - that would be daft! I can say that it makes me happy though... Cheers, Neil |

Seine is my choice also.
Yes, you have to drill and tap two holes. Yes, you have to position and weld on the left side tab. Yes, if you have the factory short shift (which is a good thing to have), you have to hog out a bit of the space above where the longer cross pin sticks out. But for a guy on a budget, with some minimal skills (and a welder, a friend with a welder, or just paying a shop a little for a couple of little welds), you get the right shifting. In addition, the tab keeps the transmission from whining when you are in 1st or 2d, because without that feature the springs which keep these revised shifters in the 3/4 plane when in neutral with you hand off the knob push on the whole shifting column until the ball end of the dongle takes up this pressure inside the transmission by pushing against part of a shift fork, transmitting vibrations. |
