All true. However, once you become as old as I, you start to long for the days when the 917 roamed the earth like the hungry preditor it was. Piech lead that charge. Yes we all get older (trust me, I know), but we don't have to get old.

Piech is an absolutely brilliant man as well as a visionary.

We shall see if this improves VW's position or not as only history will tell the tale.

He certainly was an interesting leader and quite a personality. I'd think that his life would make for an interesting book ( though I don't think he'd want all the personal details to come out).

Time will tell how his legacy at VW will play out.

I'd say pulling VW out of close to bankruptcy to the #2 manufacturer in the world is a pretty good legacy to stand on.

Any ONE of his accomplishments (or accomplishments made under his watch) would be a pretty good legacy to stand on. 909, 908, 917, Audi Quattro, Audi R8/R10/R15/R18 Le Mans dominance, VW's success.

The fact he had a hand in them all is just amazing.
