Amp draw of the Pelican High Torque Starter
I'm curious if anyone has ever measured the amp draw of the Nippon Denso starter Pelican sells.
The only specs I have are: High Torque Gear Reduction - 9 Tooth Pinion Gear - CCW Rotation - 1.4 kW 12V - Rotatable Index - 4.44 to 1 Gearing - Genuine Nippon Denso starter motor / Aluminum Adapters - Compact Light weight (< 9 Lbs) - IMI-101N Batch Production - Vented heat resistant solenoid - No hot start problems - 5 Full roller bearings - Draws less current than other units - Provides 525 plus ft. lbs. of torque

1.4 kw at 12 V equates to 116.7 amps. I don't know if it's that simple, but batteries are rated at 400-850 cold cranking amps, so that may sound right.

The amperage drawn will be dependent on the load placed on the starter, due to the engine's resistance to turning, and the voltage that can be supplied to the starter.
If you run the starter on the bench with no load it will draw little current. If the battery cannot supply a full 12 volts the amperage draw will be increased. I don't know who has a way to actually test the starter's draw in the car. But I'm not an expert. Is your new battery doing it's job?

clamp type vom meter
use a clamp type meter on you power lead off of the battery, and turn the motor over,, should be able to measure your amperage.
something like this, i have a cheap one i picked up not as accurate by close enough
