Lookin good Mikey. I hope those puppies don't scorch the paint off your rear bodywork...gonna be a tad toasty back there
So Jack, you do realize you're trying to cause a mass hookey day amongst those of us with regular day jobs? If my car isn't in pieces at the time, I might make it out. Have you driven with this group before? Feedback?

Good solution! I'm always amazed when people put the cats AFTER the muffler. Looks like you have the right setup.
I looked everywhere for a 2-in 2-out cat to act as a crossover in a set up similar to yours. The only 2-in 2-out cats have the inlets and outlets on the same side. I always wondered if you could ingore the polarity of the inlets/outlets. At any rate, it looks like you found a slick solution. Did you decide it would just be too much to drive to your job as Herr Smogmeister in a car with no cats?

Dual purpose....it's REALLY close to being legal now and it actually quieted it down 10dbA.....still too close to the 90/92 dbA limits for Laguna and San Diego.....
I will play with the supertrapp discs this weekend to see if I can get it any lower.....if I take too many out it will start to strangle the motor. |

The addition of the cats should give you some added low RPM vroom. (As if you need it!)

Yes, Chris, I've done one event with them. Very friendly and cohesive group, running a lot of Vipers and Corvettes. John Dearing, who's a very fast Viper racer, runs with them. Low key and not very crowded.
The wrinkle in this December's event is that they're running a race for the fast group, which is going to be totally dominated by some Porsche club racers like Dennis Puddester. It should be fun to watch. And for better or worse (my lap times are more than 10 seconds off Puddester's, for example), I'm in the fast group.

I see you mounted them far enough out they really won't get hot enough to do any of that catalyzing . . .so, thank for thinking of me.

I'm going to be spending the whole race finding religion and checking my mirrors.

Are you actually gonna race in that group? I know you have quite a bit of open track time, but have you been to any racing schools or clinics, Going into turn one at Willow is completely different at the start of a race when you have cars a foot off of each corner and the side of your car. No offense, but I personally would be more then a little concerned about racing with a group that doesnt require any type of the above to race with them. There is a big difference between being a Brutally Fast Moderator at DE's or time trials and Wheel to wheel racing.Saw the Brutally Fast Moderator under your name and added it to my post.

December 12th sounds like a fun thing.....will check to see if there is a sign up deadline. Hookey sounds good in December. Hope for no rain, should be cool temps in the desert that time of year.
Chris...the cats have heat shields and they are in a space where the muffler "used" to be. So hopefully the heat generated will not overwhelm the shields. That's one of the reason that I did not replace the rear bumper with a f/g unit. Talk about a fire hazard.....

Your right, there is always a first time. Thats why they have racing schools. There is no racing organization that I know of that will let that "first time" be on the track in a race. You had an incident (not your fault) with another car driven by an instructor doing an open track. Add in a racing situation and no experiance and those chances go up. Again, any organization that will allow you to "Race" based on the number of open track events you have done, is not a place I want to risk my car. This isn't a slam on Jack, but if I was Jack and they let me race having no prior experience, I would be wondering, who else am I racing with. Sorry MikeZ for going off topic on your thread.

I just sent in my payment to reserve the December 12 at Willow Springs. Perhaps a ride in Black Beauty Jack? It would be great to see your new car set up MikeZ.
MMARSH, are you going to go? it would be great to get a little more instruction.
